Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Modern Closed Bus Shelters Design, Sub-Zero Climate Manufacturing & Urban Installation Project
We have successfully engineered, manufactured, and deployed a robust network of modern closed bus shelters for Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality. Specifically built to endure one of Turkey’s most severe winter climates—characterized by massive snow loads, sub-zero temperatures, and heavy freeze-thaw cycles—Yöntime delivered a premium, turnkey street furniture solution focused on commuter safety, durability, and structural longevity.

Severe Climate Architecture and Snow-Load Shedding Layouts
Engineering street furniture for regions with massive snowfall and prolonged sub-zero temperatures demands severe structural calculations. For the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality project, our industrial designers optimized the shelter roofs with precise load-shedding angles to prevent dangerous, heavy snow accumulation. The structural spaces were modeled to feature aerodynamic enclosed perimeters designed to block freezing wind currents, creating a secure, wind-sheltered thermal envelope for commuting passengers while integrating seamlessly with the city's modern architecture.
Advanced Metallurgy and Thermal Shock Resistance Standards
Street furniture subjected to constant snow cover, deep frost, and aggressive road-salting chemicals requires ultimate material selection. The core structural frames of the shelters were manufactured from heavy-gauge steel sections treated with a comprehensive hot-dip galvanization coat to permanently prevent atmospheric corrosion. For the transparent facades, thick laminated and tempered safety glass panels were integrated to withstand intense blizzards, vandalism, and thermal shocks caused by extreme day-night temperature fluctuations. All metallic parts were finished using frost-resistant, UV-stabilized architectural electrostatic powder coatings to ensure color integrity without cracking.
Ingress-Protected Optoelectronics and Deep-Frost Field Assembly
Given the long winter nights in the region, shelter lighting is essential for civic safety and visibility. The interiors feature integrated low-wattage, high-efficacy LED lighting matrices that emit a uniform, glare-free illumination. To mitigate the risk of short circuits in high-humidity and freezing states, all wiring loops and electronic drivers are completely sealed within dust- and moisture-proof IP67-rated enclosures hidden inside the steel frames. The logistical execution across multiple municipal transit points in Erzurum was completed by anchoring each structure into specialized foundations dug below the local frost depth line, guaranteeing structural stability under all conditions.
